Export settings: how many video copies and where

The parameters for producing copies are in the "Export" section of the open project. There you set the save folder and the export type. There you also set the number of unique copies of each video and how finished files are arranged. Starting and stopping are done with one button. Before the start it says "Start", during work it says "Stop".

The same section holds the Video creation mode, the number of threads and the Similarity check.

The way to the section and its full contents.

How do I choose the folder to save videos to?

  1. Open the project and go to the "Export" section.
  2. Find the "Folder to save videos to" row.
  3. Press the folder button to the right of the field.
  4. Choose the folder and confirm.

The path is filled in automatically by the button. The field is read-only. Without a folder, the run will not start. The check sheet will show the line "Choose a folder to save videos to". Next to it is the "Select folder" button. The folder may not be on the disk. Then the sheet shows another line - "Choose another folder to save videos to". It has the same button - "Select folder".

How do "One-time", "Endless" and "Periodic" differ?

Export typeWhere the videos come fromWhen it stops
"One-time"imported videoson its own, when the set number is created
"Endless"imported videos, picked at randomonly with the "Stop" button
"Periodic"the project's sourcesonly with the "Stop" button

"One-time"

The app creates as many videos as you set. Then it stops. The number of files is known in advance. Multiply the number of imported videos by the number of copies.

"Endless"

The app creates videos until the number of files from the "Keep the number of videos constant" field is reached. The app counts the files in one folder. This is the folder where the finished files of this run are saved. With the "Straight into the save folder" arrangement, it is the save folder itself. With "By sets" and "Into the results folder", it is a new VUB_result_<date_time> folder. The app creates it at every run, and it is empty at the start. All files in this folder and in all folders inside it are counted. Unrelated files are counted too. So do not put unrelated files into this folder.

When there are fewer files, the app creates new ones on its own. A pause in the work most often has two reasons. The first is that the daily video limit is used up. It resets at night, and the work continues on its own. The second is that credits have run out. The work continues on local threads if you set them. Less often, a pause comes from the device. This happens when the disk is out of space, the processor is hot or memory is short. A pause also happens when the server is temporarily unavailable.

"Periodic"

The app checks the project's sources once per the period you set. It downloads new videos from there. From each new video it creates copies right away. You set the sources themselves in the Sources section. The folder for downloaded videos is set there too.

The "Check sources no more often than once every" field sets the pause between the starts of checks. The pause is set in minutes, and it is its smallest value. There is no strict schedule here. Checking all groups may take longer than the pause. Then a new check starts right after the previous one ends. While the app is closed, no checks run.

While another export type is selected, these fields are not on the page.

How many copies will the app create?

As many as set in the "Number of unique copies of each video" field. This number applies to each imported video. Five videos with five copies give twenty-five files.

The field also works with the "Periodic" export type. From each video found, the app creates the same number of copies. With the "Endless" type the field is hidden. There the target is set by the number of files in the folder.

How do I limit the daily output?

The "Create no more per day than" field is next to the check period. It works only with the "Periodic" export type. The count starts anew at local midnight. The "No limit" value removes the limit.

The cap is needed because this mode works without you for hours. Round-the-clock work will take up disk space. It will also use up the paid daily video limit. With the "No limit" value, the check sheet warns about this in a separate line.

The daily video limit of your plan is a different limit. It applies in any case:

"Create no more per day than""Daily video limit"
Who sets ityou, with a project settingthe plan
When it resetslocal midnightonce a day
What removes itchanging the settingchanging the plan

How are finished files arranged?

The choice is made in the "How to save:" list. A new project has the "By sets" item selected.

ItemWhat you getFile name in "One-time"File name in "Endless" and "Periodic"
"By sets"a VUB_result_<date_time> folder with pack0, pack1, pack2 folders inside; each holds one copy of each videoname.extname_<date_time>.ext
"Into the results folder"a VUB_result_<date_time> folder; all videos are in itname_N.extname_N_<date_time>.ext
"Straight into the save folder"videos are saved right into the save folder, without subfoldersname_N_<date_time>.extname_N_<date_time>.ext

The app creates the VUB_result_<date_time> folder inside the save folder. The "By sets" item is suitable when the copies need to be spread over several accounts. A set holds one copy of each video.

The parts of the name are always the same. name is the name of the source file without the extension. N is the copy number; counting starts at zero. date_time is the moment the job was queued, in the form ddmmyyyy_HHMMSS, for example 06092026_141203. ext is the extension of the selected container, mp4 by default. The separator between the parts is an underscore. In the "By sets" arrangement, the copy number is in the folder name, not the file name.

The date and time stamp is added everywhere except two combinations. It is absent with the "One-time" type together with the "By sets" or "Into the results folder" arrangement. Endless and periodic export have no end of the queue, so without the stamp a second round would write a file to the same path.

The name has no configurable template. The full scheme for all combinations is covered on the File and folder names page. What the app writes inside the finished file is covered on the Metadata page.

What if a file with that name already exists?

A file with the same path is replaced without asking, and there is no way to get the old one back.

The app tells apart two different videos with the same name on its own: the second one gets a number added to its name - name_2. Choose an empty save folder before the start, then there will be no old files in it.

What should the computer do after export?

You set the action in the "OS integration" window. Open it like this:

  1. Press the "Project integrations" button. It is the round button with three dots at the very bottom of the narrow column on the left. The window of the same name opens.
  2. On the "OS integration" card, press "Open".
  3. In the "After export:" list, pick "Do nothing", "Put the device to sleep" or "Shut down the device".
  4. Set the "Action timer" in seconds and press "Save".
Steps 1 and 2 in the video. The "After export:" list, the "Action timer" field and the "Save" button are visible in the window that opens.

After export, a timer until the action appears on the screen. Until the timer ends, you can cancel the action.

What happens after pressing "Start"?

First the "Check before start" sheet opens. It shows what blocks the start and what will happen next:

  • "Not ready" - reasons why the start is impossible. Most lines have a button. It leads to the right setting or opens the right window right away. The other lines have no button. What to do is written in the line itself.
  • "Warnings" - things that do not block the start but are worth reading.
  • "What you get" - the run plan.
  • "Daily video limit" - the lines "Charged today", "Limit left" and "Left after".
  • The cost of the cloud part in credits and the current balance. In "One-time", the "Balance after" line is shown under them. In "Endless" and "Periodic" the section is called "Credit spending". Charging has no end there. Instead of the final balance, the line "The balance lasts about" is shown. This section is absent if you have not set cloud threads.

The confirmation button is called "Start now". You can back out with the "Cancel" button. While the sheet has a "Not ready" section, the "Start now" button is inactive.

The line button opens the right window over the sheet. The sheet stays on the screen and rebuilds itself.

After confirmation the "Start" button changes its label to "Stop". The app locks the "Export type" list until the work ends.

What is visible during work?

The results table. One row per copy. The columns: "Name", "Status", "Progress", "Similarity to original", "Similarity to copies". Next come the columns with the setting values the app picked at random, and two checksum columns. In the "Status" column the labels "Creating video", "Processing in the cloud", "Downloading the result" and "Done" follow one another. On a failure, a line with the reason is shown there. This is either a ready-made error title or Error: <failure name> with details in the tooltip. The word "Error" on its own is shown in the similarity columns. It means the similarity could not be calculated.

Speed counters. The speed per hour, per day, per week, per month and per year. Next to them are "Time left" and "Export ends at". Before the first finished video, "Waiting for the first video..." is shown instead of numbers.

The file counter. In "One-time" it shows "File N of M". In "Endless" and "Periodic" it shows "Files done: N". The queue has no end there.

How do I stop video creation?

Press the "Stop" button. It is the same button as "Start". Then the following happens:

  1. The button becomes inactive and changes its label to "Stopping...".
  2. The app shows "Stopping threads..." and the number of threads not yet stopped.
  3. When the last thread has stopped, the button returns to the "Start" label. The status line shows "Video creation stopped by you".

Copies already created stay in the save folder. Stopping does not touch them. The app was writing one copy at the moment of stopping. This file is not finished, so the app deletes it. The results table keeps the row "Stopped. Deleted".

Stopping does not happen instantly. A video being written on the device is cut off right away, and the unfinished file is deleted. The time goes to cloud threads: each of them takes up to a minute to cancel its job on the server. The more of them there are, the longer the wait.

FAQ

Why does the "Start" button not create anything?

It opens the "Check before start" sheet. If the sheet has a "Not ready" section, the "Start now" button is inactive. Video creation will not begin. Read the lines in this section. Most lines have a button that leads to the right setting. The others say right in the line what to do.

Why are there more files in the folder than set?

Check the export type. In "Endless" the app checks the number of files in the folder. If there are fewer files, the app creates the missing ones. "Periodic" creates copies from each new video at the sources.

Why did the app stop creating videos on its own?

There are usually three reasons. The daily video limit of your plan is used up. Credits have run out. The "Create no more per day than" setting has been triggered. In the first and third cases the work continues after the count resets. There is no need to stop it.

Can the export type be changed during work?

No. The app reads the export type once, at the start. So the list is locked during work. Press "Stop". Then change the type and start again.
