What Video Unique Booster is: video uniquification

Video Unique Booster (VUB for short) is a Windows app for automating video processing. It uniquifies videos in bulk. You import a source video and set ranges for the settings. The app then makes as many copies as you need.

What video uniquification is

Video uniquification is editing a video without losing its original meaning.

What problem the app solves

By hand, you have to open each copy separately in a video editor. You need to change the brightness, crop an edge, put on a watermark and save the file. For a hundred copies, that is hours of work.

VUB does the same in one run. You set the settings once for the whole project. The app picks the value for each copy on its own.

The app itself describes the same purpose. The "Similarity threshold" setting says that the threshold "is chosen individually for each video hosting or social network".

How the app differs from ordinary video editors

  1. Automation. Each video being created gets its settings automatically from the allowed range.
  2. Multithreading. You can create several videos in parallel
  3. Fault tolerance. The app is built to work with your device loaded at 100%. It tracks your device resources in real time and adjusts how it works. For example, when the processor reaches 85 degrees, the app pauses video creation until the processor cools down to 65 degrees. This way you can get 100% speed out of your device while keeping it completely safe.
  4. Load forecasting. Before each start, the app models the load that video creation will put on your device. If the model shows that your device cannot handle the load, the app offers to change the settings (for example, to reduce the number of threads).
  5. Scalability. The PC app can hand off the video creation load to our cloud. The cloud throughput for one user is 480,000 videos per day (Full HD, 30fps, 10 s). This lets you scale as needed and not depend on the power of your device.
  6. Automatic result check. After creating a video, the app can review the created video itself and show what percentage it is similar to the original. If a video is too similar, the app deletes it on its own. So you do not need to review every video by hand. You can automate not only video creation but also checking the videos before you upload them.

What makes the copies differ from each other

In VUB you set a setting not as one number but as a range. The guided tour describes it like this:

You set a range of values. After that the app picks a random value for every copy on its own. For example, the "Change brightness" setting now has a range from -10 to +10. One copy gets +7 of brightness, another one -3.

The same goes for rotation, cropping, volume and the other settings that have a range. A detailed breakdown is in how uniquification works.

How the work goes: six steps

  1. Source material. Click "Import video" and choose files on the disk. The app supports .mp4, .mov, .avi and 10 more formats. You can also drag videos into the list with the mouse - as files or as a whole folder.
  2. Material without your own files. You may have no videos of your own. Then you can get videos in two ways: downloading by link through the ClipSave integration and sources. The app downloads new posts from sources on its own.
  3. Settings. On the left, in the sidebar, are all project settings - from video effects to compression levels. There are more than a hundred of them. That is why there is a search box "Search settings..." at the top of the window.
  4. Checking on one video. The "Preview" button applies the current settings to the video in the preview window. This does not affect bulk video creation.
  5. Start. On the "Export" page you set the save folder. The "Number of unique copies of each video" setting is there too - 10 by default. Then comes the "Start" button. Before starting, the app shows a plan. It warns you if the settings are too demanding for your computer.
  6. Result. The table shows the status, the percentage and all the settings of each copy. You can stop the work with the same button. While the work is running it is called "Stop".

A step-by-step walkthrough of the first run is in first video. Next to it are installation and activation.

What you can set: project sections

Imported videos. The list of files that take part in bulk uniquification. The row order sets the order in which videos are created on the device. A double-click opens a video in the preview window on the right.

Sources. Authors' pages on video platforms. You set the check period yourself. The app goes through the pages, downloads new posts and creates copies from them right away. This works only with the "Periodic" export type and while the app is open. Details are in sources.

Frame. "Geometry and framing" - scale, rotation, edge cropping, mirroring, perspective, stabilization, border, camera zoom. "Duration and transitions" - video duration, fade-in and fade-out, blending of neighboring frames. Breakdown: frame geometry and duration and transitions.

Style. "Light and tone" - brightness, contrast, gamma, exposure. "Color correction" - balance of highlights, midtones and shadows, saturation, color temperature, curves. "Texture and detail" - sharpness, grid, noise, vignette, blur. Breakdown: light, tone and color and texture and detail. See also result quality.

Watermark. The file is a .png image, a .gif animation or an .mp4 video. The app plays animations and videos. You mark the placement spots right on the frame. For each copy the app picks one spot at random. Separate page: watermark.

Text. A caption on the video with spintax support. The formula {Link|Details} in {bio|profile} gives one copy "Link in bio" and another "Details in profile". The app does not support emoji and apostrophes. Separate page: text on video.

Template. A second video over the main one. For each copy the app takes a random additional video and a random segment of it. You set the layout with checkpoints. One checkpoint is a static position. Several give movement between them. Separate page: template.

Audio. "Video sound" changes the volume, pitch and frequencies of the source track. "Additional audio" adds your own track - with looping, a random start point and its own equalizer. Separate page: audio and equalizer.

Metadata. The "Add metadata" setting writes custom metadata into the file. The list of options is visible in the setting itself. The app does not carry metadata over from the original. It creates new metadata for each copy. Separate page: metadata.

Performance. Here you choose the file compression, presets, codec and container. Separate page: performance.

Export. Save folder, number of copies, distribution of files into folders, export type, video creation mode and similarity check. Breakdown: export settings.

Similarity check

The similarity check compares finished videos with the original and with each other. The app checks a copy against the original and against the other copies of the same video. One threshold breach is enough. Then the app does what you chose. For example, it deletes the copy and creates a new one.

There are four options: "No", "AI check", "Video indexing v1" and "Video indexing v2". The tooltip gives a guide for the threshold. Above 99% - the videos are identical. Below 10% - they are two different videos. Details are in similarity check.

Project complexity counter

In the bottom left corner of the window there is a counter like "×1.00". It is the total complexity of all the settings you turned on. Some settings work fast. Others put a heavy load on the processor. The higher the project complexity, the lower the video creation speed. The cost of video creation in the cloud grows too.

You can click the counter. A table of the enabled settings with their complexity opens. It shows which setting loads the system the most.

Where videos are created: on the device or in the cloud

The "Video creation mode" setting on the "Export" page gives three options.

ModeWhere the work runsCredits
Localon your device processornot spent
Cloudin the VUB Cloud, with no load on your devicespent
Hybridlocal threads first, the cloud takes files when they are busyspent, the amount is not known in advance

The cost of video creation in credits depends on the video volume and the project complexity. The app shows the credit balance and what is left of the daily video limit at the top of the window. Mode comparison: on the device or in the cloud.

Frequently asked questions

How is Video Unique Booster different from an ordinary video editor?

An editor applies one value to the whole file. You create each copy again by hand. VUB works with ranges. It picks the value again for each copy. It makes all copies in one run. VUB also has a similarity check.

The techniques themselves are the same. You specify the settings you would apply when uniquifying by hand. The app then does the monotonous part of the work.

Can I work if I have no videos of my own?

Yes. The ClipSave integration downloads videos by link from YouTube, Instagram, Twitter (X) and TikTok. The "Sources" section picks up new posts from the pages you specify on its own. The tooltip of the "Add source" button says: "You do not need your own videos for this".

Do I have to turn on the similarity check?

No, it is off by default. Turn it on when you want stricter control over the result. The lower the threshold, the stricter the check. With too low a threshold the check may delete every created video.

Are credits spent if I create videos on my own computer?

No. In "Local" mode the work runs on your device processor. No credits are spent. The daily video limit is spent in any mode. Preview spends it too.

What do I do if the app stops responding?

Please see the page app not responding. Sometimes videos stop downloading from platforms. Then first check the version of the video download module. More on this: updates and video does not download.
