Statistics: how many videos you made and what you saved
The "Statistics" screen compares your work in the app with editing by hand. It shows how many videos were created over all time and how much time and money this saved. All numbers are counted by your device and stored on it. The calculation rests on three values, and you set them yourself.
Where the numbers come from
The app keeps its own counters on this device. The numbers are stored in the globalsettings file in the app folder, next to the global settings.
The counters are shared by the whole app, not tied to one project. The open project does not affect them.
| Number | How it is obtained |
|---|---|
| Number of videos created | Plus one for each video created and for each preview created |
| "TIME SAVED" | The number of videos is multiplied by the minutes of manual editing, and the active time in the app is subtracted from the result |
| "MONEY SAVED" | The number of videos is multiplied by the price of one video from an outside editor |
| "Your time in the app" | The time when the app window was in focus and you were clicking or typing something |
| "App running time" | The time when at least one video or preview was being created |
| "BEST DAY" | The calendar day with the largest number of videos |
| "A typical day" | The median over days with at least one video |
The "ALL TIME" section covers the whole history. "A typical day" is counted over the last 400 days.
Where to open the screen
There are three ways to open the screen. All three open the same window.
- Three tiles on the project selection screen: "VIDEOS CREATED", "TIME SAVED", "MONEY SAVED". The whole tile is clickable.
- The three-bar button in the header, the "Statistics" item.
- The search field in the header. Search finds both the menu item itself and the fields inside the window.
The tiles are on the project selection screen, above the "Create project" button. As soon as you open a project, the tiles are no longer on the screen.
The window is non-modal: it does not get in the way of working in the app. The numbers in the open window update on their own every three seconds. You can leave the window open while videos are being created in another tab.
The "ALL TIME" section
At the top of the window is the phrase "You have made N videos" and two cards: "TIME SAVED" and "MONEY SAVED". The cards switch the calculation page. The window opens on the time card.
The time page shows:
- the phrase "Editing the videos by hand would have taken ... (N videos × 2 min)";
- a bar with the legend "Time saved ...";
- the line "Your time in the app ...";
- the line "App running time ...".
The money page shows the formula "N videos × 0.20 € = ...", the explanation "That is what an outside editor would charge for editing these videos." and the note "Your plan cost is not subtracted from this amount".
Three numbers you set
The fields sit right inside the phrases. The calculation is updated with every character you type.
| Field | What it means | Default | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| "Time per video by hand" | How many minutes manual editing of one video would take | 2 min | from 1 to 600 min |
| "Price per video with an outside editor" | What one video would cost with an outside editor | 0.20 € | from 0.00 € to 500.00 € |
| "Working day length" | How many hours one working day lasts | 8 h | from 1 to 24 h |
The price field accepts both a comma and a dot. There can be no more than two digits after the separator. There is one currency, the euro, and it cannot be changed.
What you typed is saved when you move to another field, when you press Enter and when you close the window. Escape closes the window and also saves what you typed.
The "Working day length" field is in the "BEST DAY" section. While this section is not there, the field is not there either.
What happens when you go out of bounds
The app does not silently replace a number that is out of bounds. The field turns red, the calculation stays on the last valid value, and the result of that phrase is replaced with a dash. The tooltip on the dash: "The value in the field was not accepted, so the calculation is not shown".
The message line at the bottom of the window turns red:
Enter the time per video: from 1 to 600 min
Enter the price per video: from 0.00 € to 500.00 €
Enter the working day length: from 1 to 24 h
An invalid number is not written to the counters at all. The normal text of this line is: "You can change the values in the fields - the calculation updates at once."
"Your time in the app" and "App running time"
These are two different values, and they should not be confused.
"Your time in the app" is your time. It grows only while the app window is in focus and you are clicking or typing something.
"App running time" is machine time. It grows while at least one video or preview is being created. Your participation is not needed during this time.
Two tabs working at the same time give one machine time, not double. Wall-clock time is counted, not the sum over threads.
That is exactly why machine time is often larger than yours: the app works while you are busy with something else.
A note on active time
Active time is counted from Windows data about the last key press or mouse click.
This data covers the whole system, not one app. So a click in another program is counted too. There is one condition: the Video Unique Booster window stays in focus.
The reverse is also true. While the window is not in focus, active time does not grow, even if you are typing in another window at that moment.
The check runs every two seconds.
The "BEST DAY" section
The section appears only when there are at least two days with created videos. A new user does not have it.
The section has three phrases:
On your best day you alone made 340 videos, spending 47 seconds in the app.
Editing these videos by hand would have taken 11 h 20 min: to fit into one working day of 8 h, 2 people would be needed.
A typical day - 55 videos: by hand that is 1 h 50 min.
The first phrase is about the record number of videos in a calendar day. The second turns that day into a number of people. The third shows the median over days with videos.
What counts as a created video
- Each created video of a batch.
- Each created preview, including in Express mode.
- A copy that the similarity check later deleted. The work done is counted, not the surviving file.
For the similarity check, see the Similarity check page.
Empty state
Until at least one video has been created, both the window and the tiles show an invitation instead of numbers:
Your statistics will appear here
The app counts how much time and money you have saved compared with editing by hand. Create your first project - the numbers will appear here as soon as your first videos are ready.
There are no zeros or dashes in the empty state. All sections, fields and the bottom message line are hidden.
Why the numbers may not add up
- The "all time" total can be larger than the sum over days. Old counters were carried over without dates, and days beyond the 400-day window are not counted. This is by design.
- If you spent more time in the app than the manual work would have taken, "0 min" is shown, not a negative number.
- A preview counts the same as an export, so the number of videos can be larger than the number of files in the folder.
- The window height is fitted to the content once, on first display. It does not change when you switch between time and money.
FAQ
Are these numbers counted by my device?
Yes. The counters are kept by the app itself and stored in the globalsettings file in its folder. For more about this file, see Where your files are.
Can I reset the statistics?
There is no reset button in the window.
Why are there no tiles on the project screen?
The tiles are only on the project selection screen. Open the tab with that screen, and they will appear again.
Why does "Your time in the app" show so little?
This time grows only while the window is in focus and you are clicking or typing something. While the app creates videos and you are busy with something else, the second number grows - "App running time".
Can I change the euro to another currency?
No. There is one currency in the calculation.
Are the numbers counted for one project or for all?
For all at once. There is no breakdown by project on this screen.
There is no "BEST DAY" section. Is this an error?
No. The section appears from the second day on which videos were created.
